1349 (Woking) ATC Squadron Annual Inspection and Awards Ceremony 2019

1349 (Woking) ATC Squadron held their annual inspection and awards ceremony on the 23rd November 2019 at the Squadron in Woking. The Reviewing Officer was Wing Commander Jonathan Eastlake RAF, OC 27 Squadron, who many Horners’ will know through our association with 27 Squadron. The Horners’ were well represented on the day with the Master, Upper and Renter Wardens and five others. In addition, the Mayor and Chief Executive of Woking were present.

This was the first annual inspection for the new Commanding Officer, Plt Off Justin Muir, and he was very pleased with the way the day progressed; the cadets were a credit to the Squadron

Following the formal inspection, a number of the cadets gave a continuity drill demonstration, held to music, which was very entertaining and earned a rightful round of applause at the end.

A tour of the squadron was an opportunity for parents and visitors to see a range of the activities undertaken by the cadets. It was also an opportunity for some to try their hand at an activity.

Among  highlights of the awards ceremony were the promotion of cadet Yates to corporal, the presentation of the Fox Sword to CWO Tolley for demonstrating the qualities the Squadron promotes to an exceptional standard and the presentation, by the Master, of the President’s Trophy for the best cadet of the year to cadet Reeve.
