There were 138 applications for funding. These were reduced to 47 by eliminating personal applications, out of area appeals and large national and well supported charities. A further screening, taking into account the guidelines and through discussion and web search, reduced this number to 9 for consideration by the Committee and from these four were selected:

Mudchute Park and Farm
A 32 acre site on the Isle of Dogs containing parkland and 200 animals. The site is operated by 60 staff in cooperation with Tower Hamlets Council. Objectives are to provide education and training for young people and advance the knowlege of local people in the countryside.

The charity operates through the Dellow Centre in Wentworth St, E1. They provide food healthcare and support services to the homeless. Over 6000 used the centre last year.

Provides respite care for young carers aged 5-12 (‘for children who have no time to be children’).Referrals are by Social Services and activities include a holiday once a year a dedicated home on the edge of the New Forrest.

Established in 1982 in Thamesmead, the charity sets out to enrich the lives of 11-19 year olds, especially those at risk of social exclusion. Qualified volunteer mechanics provide motor cycle workshops. There are also camping trips a photography club and endurance challenges.
