We have an extensive collection of antique items fashioned out of horn most of which are housed at the Museum of Design in Plastics (MoDiP) which is part of the Arts University in Bournemouth. On 26th August a party of Horners travelled to Bournemouth to view our collection.
The night before the Master hosted a dinner at the Royal Bath Hotel in Bournemouth for those staying the night prior to the visit the following day. After cocktails on the terrace overlooking the sea, a most enjoyable dinner was spent together, the first occasion for such an event since lockdown.
The following day, we walked the short distance to the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum for a tour of the house and garden. Due to Covid restrictions, MoDiP were unable to show us the collection at their premises so instead they brought a number of our artefacts to the Russell-Cotes museum and mounted a display there for us to examine. They included items of horn donated to the Company by Liveryman Colin Williamson.
A massive vote of thanks was given to Past Master Georgina Scott, our Keeper of Horn who organised the visit.
A fascinating and happy day was had by all. Some pictures taken at the event can be viewed under GALLERY. Click here to see them.
