The June Court Meeting, took place at the peak of a heatwave, so the Master relaxed the dress code. Some attended in shirtsleeves whilst others maintained the usual suit and tie. During Court, El Moss was admitted as an Honorary Horner for her work as Chair of our Almoners. Charlotte Nock and Tracey Harris were then admitted to the Freedom of the Company.
Afterwards Horners and their Guests enjoyed a Sparkling Wine reception prior to Luncheon at Painter’s Hall. During the lunch, as is their custom, the Master Horner took wine with his Wardens using drinking Horns.. Welcoming Past Master Jeremy Cartwright, back in the saddle after recovering from an horrific accident being hit by a car speeding whilst he was walking in a country lane, he was awarded his Certificate for completing 50 years as a Liveryman. Then, accompanied at the piano by Assistant Horner, Alderman Sir David Parmley, he entertained us with some songs ending with our anthem, ‘The Horners are Best.’ All went home after a most enjoyable lunch.
