Our Master and his Wardens are elected each year on Candlemas Day but this year was the exception. The Master and his Wardens elected in February 2020, with the consent of the Court, are to remain in Office for a second year in view of the disruption caused by COVID. During the Court Meeting which was held virtually, three new Assistants were installed; namely Liverymen Julie Fox, Bruce Margetts and Sjors Van Der Sterren. The new Wing Commander of 27 Squadron, Paul Butler was installed as an Honorary Freeman for the term of his command.
Liveryman Roger Cline, retired from his role of Honorary Archivist, a post which he had held for 15 years. The Master thanked him warmly for his service to the Company and presented him with a drinking horn. Liveryman Nicole Corbin was then installed as his successor.
After that, the winner of the Student Design Award in Plastics was installed as a Freeman of the Company. Her winning design can be viewed here . The following were then installed as Associates: Eleanor Asquith, Matthew Foord, Alex Harris, Ivan Revenga-Riesco, Holly Longhurst and Miami Mansour.
After a break, the Company reassemble virtually for a supper greeted by an introduction from the Master. Our Honorary Chaplain the Rev. Gary Bradley then wished us a Happy Christmas! He reminded us that the Christmas season lasts for 40 days finishing on Candlemas Day. Then after Grace, the gathering were divided into small breakout rooms for the supper during which we returned to the main room for two pre-recorded performances by the Horners Choir. After a closing speech by the Master, the breakout rooms continued for as long as the Happy Horners wanted and the final room closed after 1am! A very good evening was had by all.
